The Willamette Writers group will soon move into its new 2,817-square-foot quarters — a 1928 home at 2108 Buck St., in West Linn’s Bolton neighborhood. The move-in date is set for Feb. 15. The house will serve as office space for the largest writers’ organization in Oregon. The living room will be available for critique groups and genre gatherings. The house also has six rooms that writers may rent for $10 for 24 hours. Each room will be named for a famous author.
“Think: You could own ‘A Room of One’s Own,’ to quote Virginia Woolf,” said Willamette Writers president Cynthia Whitcomb, a screenwriter from Wilsonville.
Purchasing a home is a dream come true for the nonprofit writing organization, which formed in 1965. Currently, Willamette Writers rents space on Barbur Boulevard in Southwest Portland. “We had a notion which became a vision which blossomed into a dream and has now flourished into reality; it’s here, we did it,” said Whitcomb. The group is seeking donated items such as desks, a conference room table and chairs and bookshelves. Contact Whitcomb at cwhitcomb1@aol.com.

this is great news for us writers in residence! Perhaps this is an opportunity to spread some love ’round the neighborhood for those of us “writing in the spirit.” Ya see Cornelia, things are happening, falling into place, slowly making sense. God’s moving! 😀
