Riley Norby, 16, spent part of his winter vacation adding50 feet of pavers and paving a handicapped-accessible pathway at Robinwood Station, 3706 Cedaroak Drive, as part of his community service project to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
He had several Scouts, his parents and Scout leaders assisting him.
“The thing about building a handicapped walkway is that they really do need it. I wanted to help people who actually needed help,” the West Linn High School sophomore said. “It’s hard work, but it pays off to help the community center.”
Randy Fastabend, co-chairman of the Friends of Robinwood, which is spearheading the transition of the Robinwood Station from firehall to community center, is thrilled with Riley’s effort.
“It’s fantastic that he’s doing this. Without it we could not use the space,” said Fastabend.
In addition to paving the pathway, the Scouts leveled a parking lot and planted rhododendrons and other shrubs, said Riley, who is a member of West Linn Boy Scout Troop 149.
