Team: Varsity basketball
Recent accomplishments: Leading scorer for Wilsonville (25 points) in an 82-42 win over Parkrose High School Jan. 4; leading scorer (23 points) in a 77-40 win over St. Helens Jan. 7. Team won Wilsonville Invitational Tournament.
How he got started: “I had a little plastic hoop with a tiny rubber ball when I was younger and just played with it every second I could. And as I got older I moved on to an actual hoop, spending just as much time shooting.”
Favorite part of sport: “How much of a team game it is. There is no way to be successful without playing defense as a team and sharing the ball.”
Favorite meal the night before the big game: “Sub sandwich from Sargo’s Subs.”
Off-season? “I play baseball for Wilsonville and enjoy skiing whenever I get the chance.”
Rules to live by: “‘Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you deal with it.’ That’s something that I hear my coach, Chris Roche, every so often say to me.”
Memorable advice: “‘Don’t get too high with the highs or too low with the lows’ is what my dad (Rolf Gearhart) always said to me.”
Hobbies, interests: “Refereeing youth basketball games, fishing, video games.”
On his iPod: “Drake, Sam Adams, Trey Songz, J. Cole, KiD CuDi.”
The one thing someone may not know about him: “I am an amateur disc golf player.”
