Highlights: “The highlight of this season so far would be our first win of the season at Glencoe High School. Our team came away with an overall sweep of 8-0. I had a three-set match win, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and was the last player to come off the court with the darkness setting in.”
How she got started: “Both my sisters grew up playing.”
Coach’s advice: “Have fun!”
Favorite part of sport: “You can play year round, indoors and outdoors and it’s a sport you can play your whole life.”
Favorite meal the night before the big event: “Lasagna, mashed potatoes and Caesar salad.”
Off-season? “Snowboarding. I just picked up surfing and longboarding, too.”
Rules to live by: “Sometimes we are so preoccupied with the destination, we forget to enjoy the journey. Take one day at a time and enjoy the little things!”
Giving back: “I’ve worked the past couple summers teaching kids at Tigard Tennis Camps, and do various other volunteer work through my school and the city of Tigard.”
On her iPod: “AWOLNATION on repeat.”
On her nightstand: ” ‘The Kite Runner’ by Khaled Hosseini and of course, all three books of ‘The Hunger Games’ series by Suzanne Collins.”
The one thing someone may not know about her: “I’m actually really outdoorsy, I love hiking and camping.”
What’s next? “A good district that leads to state. After school I’m pursuing a degree as a physician’s assistant.”
