Grade/school: Senior, Lake Oswego High School
Team: Varsity track
Recent accomplishments: “I won both my hurdles races in our dual meet against Canby High. I am in the top 10 for Three Rivers League for the 300(-meter) hurdles. I’m also the team captain.”
How he got started: “I first started in seventh grade and began the year with cross country, and I did (track coach Eric) Lider‘s PR Track Camp during the summer one year. I had a good time then and thought I’d keep doing it.”
Favorite part of sport: “The race. I honestly hate the waiting time before each event but when the gun goes off I can finally do what I’d been waiting to do all day.”
Favorite meal before the big event: Pasta.
Offseason?: Cross country, basketball.
Rules to live by: “While I might be tired and can’t go any farther, there’s somebody else out there training harder.”
Advice to other track athletes: “Take the meets one thing at a time, focus on your next event only.”
Hobbies, interests: “Back in the winter I coached a first-grade basketball team, which was really fun and I’d love to do again. I volunteer at the Lake Oswego library.”
On his iPod: Justice, Daft Punk, video game soundtracks.
One thing someone may not know about him: “I want to become a video game designer.”
What’s next? The University of Oregon, where he’d like to continue some form of track.
