Highlights: “First at Rose City Tournament at Westview High School at 160 lbs. Because I was the champion, I got to take home a big WWE-like belt.”
How he got started: “I started in second grade after my brother had been going to wrestling practices for a couple of months. I both wrestled and played basketball for a couple of years and then realized wrestling was the sport for me.”
Coaches’ advice: “We can’t teach desire, that has to come from within.”
Favorite part of sport: “Just competing and giving it my all every match to gain the best results.”
Favorite meal the night before the big match: “I enjoy a little pasta cooked by my mom, with some orange juice.”
Offseason? “Football, golf.”
Rules to live by: “‘Smile and laugh every single day.’ It means that laughter can make the troubles go away and a simple smile can turn your day around.”
Hobbies: “National Honor Society, church group and traveling.”
On his iPod: “All kinds of music, from Drake, Eminem, Michael Jackson, T.I. and a little Vanessa Hudgens.”
On his nightstand: “Quiet Strength” by Tony Dungy
The one thing someone may not know about him: “I got hooked on soccer while in Europe during the 2010 World Cup. I’ve been a big fan ever since.”
What’s next? “Ending my high school and wrestling career on a strong note and achieving all my goals I have set. Then moving on to Oregon State to study business.”
