Name: Lauren Robeznieks

Age: 17

Residence: Tigard

Grade/school:
Senior at Tualatin High School

Team: Varsity swimming

Coach: Jeanine Serrano

Highlights: “Highlights for this season would most definitely be the girls team being undefeated with two dual meets left in the season and the guys only losing one, which was to McMinnville. A personal accomplishment for me would be being the girls team captain for the second year in a row.”

How she got started: “I was taking a break from dance in the fourth grade, and my neighbor got me interested in swimming and I decided to try it out.”

Coach’s advice: “She has given me the advice to never give up, and attitude is everything. Also, even if there is no one to race, you always have to race the clock.”

Favorite part of sport: “The adrenaline rush that I get from racing and the excitement of pushing myself to win. My two favorite races would have to be the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle.”

Favorite meal the night before the big event: “Either pasta or Mexican food.”

Off-season? “I swim club all year round.”

Rules to live by: “Don’t be scared about the small things, go through life as fearlessly as possible and do your best to succeed.”

Hobbies: “Our swim team hosts lessons, and I help with that; also I am involved with a few clubs at school.”

On her iPod: “Drake, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Sabi.”

On her nightstand: “Current school book: ‘Song of Solomon’ by Toni Morrison. For fun, fashion magazines and health magazines.”

The one thing someone may not know about her: “I was born at 28 weeks, weighing in at 2 pounds, 6 ounces.”

What’s next? “Hopefully winning districts and placing high at the state championship meet.”
