Highlights: “This year my biggest accomplishment so far has been getting myself on track, setting high goals, and working as hard as I can every day. My preparation is what wins my matches for me so I need to just continue working hard day in and day out. My favorite match I would have to say was against Dylan Holcomb from Pendleton. He won state last year and is very tough, so it was a good win.”
How he got started: “My parents always bugged me in middle school to wrestle and I never seemed interested, but then decided to start in seventh grade and I guess my competitiveness took over.”
Coach’s advice: “He always pushes me to go above and beyond, and to fulfill my dream whether it’s on or off the mat.”
Favorite part of wrestling: “The lifelong lessons it teaches you are great, and the discipline and working hard, I know, will pay off in the end.”
Favorite meal the night before the big match: “If I can eat, it would be chicken Parmesan.”
Rules to live by: “Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.” — James Dean
On his iPod: A$AP Rocky, Freddie Gibbs, Kendrick Lamar, Tupac Shakur, Odd Future.
The one thing someone may not know about him: “I love candles.”
What’s next? “No plans so far, but I wish to wrestle in college somewhere.”
