Students from Multnomah University, where I teach, are presenting the Isaiah Project to bring the dark reality of human-trafficking to light. They are inviting area high school youth groups to the Wednesday March 14 event, which is being held at 7 p.m. at Central Bible Church, located at
8815 Northeast Glisan Street in Portland.
Their vision is for youth to become aware of the injustice of sex trafficking and learn of ways that they can find ways to fight the injustice. The two-hour event includes two speakers, worship and interaction. The hearts of the students organizing the Isaiah Project are centered on the commandment found in ISAIAH 1:17:
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”
It has been fun to see my student Kristen Leach, (who is in my Newspaper Workshop course and on staff of the student Muse magazine for which I serve as faculty advisor), plan this event with her friends the past year!
