Highlights of season: “Getting our first league win against Dayton. At midseason I was leading my team with over 50 kills and a serving percentage of 96 percent.”

How she started: “The first time I played volleyball was in fifth grade, but I started playing competitively in eighth grade when I joined a club team.”

Coach’s advice: “To always be a leader on the court.” — Courtney Spears

Favorite part of sport: “Defense and getting kills because it makes me keep working harder.”

Favorite meal the night before the big game: “My mom’s homemade macaroni and cheese.”

Offseason? “I play club.”

Rules to live by: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

On her iPod: Justin Bieber. He always gets me pumped up before a game.”

The one thing someone may not know about her: “I got to meet Justin Bieber. … I also gave him my number.” She and a friend won a contest.

What’s next? “Hopefully playing in college.”
