We hiked up the Sleeping Beauty Trail for an adventure in the Mt. Adams wilderness area and it was a team effort to get 9 of us from various ages and abilities up that hill.

One of our Sudan friends was having a really hard time and we told her this was a team effort and we will all go together and we are not letting anyone go alone. And, yes it was hard and yet…
In the end it was so worth it as all of us found out.
Breezy compared the journey to Moses in the wilderness while coaxing Nyboni to continue and we talked about team work, that we would all be going up together and we would leave no one behind and we could all do it. And I we talked about enduring to the end and how grateful we were to have this opportunity and how some things are hard but worth it and how Jesus suffered for us and went to the end and we mentioned not giving up and being thankful for legs and breath and a heart.
Yes, it was a hard 1.4 mile straight up hill climb, gaining 3500 feet to the top of Sleeping Beauty Trail in the Mt. Adams wilderness area. My 6 year old Augustin and 7 year old Nyqua did an amazing job and when we all reached the top at various speeds and in three different groups we took photographs and ate German chocoloate from Stefan and Nerds candy that Augustin bought with left over money from Breezy’s mom and the kids were so excited to have made it to the top and I was so proud of them.
The view offered was of Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier and it felt so good to go on this adventure with the kids and our Sudan friends and Breezy. There is something about getting kids into the outdoors, an adventure, hiking, accomplishing a goal, in the outdoors, seeing and experiencing God’s creation and recognizing it as such.
An end of the summer adventure. Before school starts, before Rachie leaves again for Germany, but I do not want to think about that right now. For now, just thinking about our adventure yesterday, which ended at the Heavenly Grounds Cafe for Huckleberry milkshakes.
It is such a great adventure. I had done this a year ago with my son Ryan and the twins and wanted to go back….Find info at: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation/trails/locations/mta-0037-sleeping-beauty-peak.shtml
