I will be leading an Advanced Freelance Writing Workshop today at the Willamette Writers Conference. I enjoy sharing my story with others.
It has been a blur, this weekend, with my other responsibilities as Literary Chair, taking care of all the agents and editors. Our theme, “Fresh Brewed,” has proven to be appropriate as many of the agents and editors have never been here before, either to this conference or to Portland.
In my talk, we will be talking about earning money as well as taking your writing to the next level, something I am always trying to do.
It’s been fun meeting all of the agents and editors I had the honor to bring to the conference to meet with authors and hear about their book projects. I only knew two of the agents/editors personally beforehand: I had met Dave Kopp, who is with Waterbrook Press, several years ago when he attended and taught a class at this conference and we’ve kept in touch, and Don Jacobson has become a friend these last several months through my Faith & Culture Writers Conference.
The buzz with attendees and the agents seems to be very lively and warm and friendly. Agents seem to be enjoying the conference and feel honored to have been asked to be here, and attendees seem to be saying that the agents are really nice. Hope some good book deals come out of it.
