West Linn Earth Month event Saturday April 28 features ‘Deep Green documentary, kids’ games and activities, native plant sale, more

The Green Team and Earthkeepers of Cedaroak Park Primary School invite the community to their fourth annual Earth Month celebration from 10 a.m. to noon April 28 at the school, 4515 Cedaroak Drive.

This year’s free event includes games, interactive displays and a screening of the documentary “Deep Green,” a film about transforming the use of energy with green technologies.  DEEP GREEN VIDEO LINK

“There is more breadth this year. We’ve never had a film before and we are coordinating games for kids,” said Emilie Lavin, instructional coordinator at Cedaroak Park. “We are also having a photo booth where students can hold a sign that reads ‘Be as green as you can’ and get their photo taken.”

Visitors will also learn about recycled crafts, sustainable lunches, solarizing one’s home and composting. In addition, there will be a native plant sale and a book exchange.

Lavin said 30 National Honor Society students from West Linn High School are volunteering and she gave a big thumbs-up to parent coordinator Melissa Yotsuya. “She’s done an incredible amount of the planning,” said Lavin.
