Highlights: The Ollars competed in the 3000-meter eighth-grade boys race at the Willamette River League district meet at Molalla River State Park Oct. 27. Grayson: Third-place medal, with a time of 10:54.42; was among those who beat the 7-year-old course record. Roman: Placed sixth overall with a time of 11:10.86. “I got second on my team … behind my twin brother.” A total of 78 eighth-grade boys competed.
How they got started: They were inspired by their sister, Chelsea, also a runner.
Coach’s advice: Don’t sprint at the start of a race, and keep your pace.
Favorite part of sport: Grayson: “I get to run outdoors.” Roman: “Running and hanging out with my friends.”
Favorite meal the night before the big event: Spaghetti.
Rules to live by: Grayson: “Get outdoors as much as you can.” Roman: “Not to sugar out.”
