Name: Tess Langseth-DePaolis Tigard High School

Recent accomplishments: At a recent meet against Tualatin High School

, she placed first in 200-meter individual medley, 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle relay, plus second in the 200-meter medley relay. In a Jan. 13 meet in Hillsboro, she placed first in the 50-meter freestyle and second in the 100-meter breaststroke.

How she got started: “I started on a little neighborhood team when I was about 5 years old and I’ve loved it ever since!”

Favorite part of sport:
“The social aspect of it, definitely. I’ve met so many people through swimming.”

Favorite meal the night before the big event:
“My mom’s delicious carbonara pasta! It’s great fuel food.”

Off-season?
“I play water polo in the summer and fall, and I’m a track and field athlete in the spring.”

Rules to live by:

“Failure is not fatal, success is not final, it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Memorable advice: “Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.”

Hobbies, interests:
“I do tons of volunteer work around my community. I’m an active member of the National Honor Society and Key Club

at Tigard High School. I also lifeguard for little kids’ swim meets on weekends. It’s a blast!”

What’s next: “I plan on finishing off the season strong … maybe even sending our girls relay to state!”
