The Oregonian launched a new Southwest community section that is published now on Saturdays. I once again cover the West Linn community news and my first story appeared and can be found at the link below.

Here is the story as well: west-linn-scouts-goodwilljpg-047f90f8f4ddc35a_large

West Linn’s Boy Scout Troop 149 and West Linn Cub Scout Pack 504 collected 702 bags and boxes of clothes, toys, and household items for Goodwill Industries during this month’s annual Goodwill Good Turn Day.

That number is up from last year’s total of 492 bags collected by West Linn Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, said Dale Emanuel, spokeswoman for Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette.

Scouts in the 14 counties that participated this year have collected about 234,000 pounds of items, up from 230,000 last year, Emanuel said.

“I’m so proud of our participation in Goodwill Good Turn Day this year,” said Dan Dunstan, coordinator of the local Scouts collection. “An event like this is a great example of Scouting principles in action, and shows what a huge difference Scouting can make for our community.”
